The objective of this dissertation is to propose an approach to studying the Second World War from a regional focus, using excerpts from the newspaper "O Diário de Natal" from June and July of 1944. The dissertation is structured into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the school and its community as a field of research. Through ethnography, it describes the physical structure, the faculty, and the student body, and reflects on the role of the History teacher as a weaver of historical knowledge and the History subject in the composition of school culture. The second chapter discusses History as a narrative capable of shaping identities, the use of historical sources, especially printed periodicals, as teaching materials, as well as the didactic-pedagogical potential that Regional History has for a meaningful teaching-learning process. The third chapter discusses the structure of historical knowledge about the participation of the city of Natal-RN in the Second World War, often based on patriotism or a folkloric perspective, presenting the foundations for a study of Regional History from the newspaper document "O Diário de Natal" between June and July of 1944. The appendix contains the didactic product, the result of the theoretical-methodological reflection of the dissertation chapters.
