As a result, poor sleep quality can impact the memory of college students.Objective.To verify the association between self-perception of subjective sleep quality and memory complaints in young college students. Method.A cross-sectional analytical field study with a quantitative approach was carried out.The study population was composed by a non-probabilistic sample of 519 students, selected by convenience, with a mean age of 22.9±5.5, being 408 women and 111 men. For data collection, were used:the "Prospective and Retrospective Memory" questionnaire to analyze complaints of memory failure, developed by the researchers to identify memory complaints related to the academic environment; and the "Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index" to verify sleep quality. The data were statistically analyzed descriptively and inferentially using the Chi-square test, with p<5%. Results. It was possible to notice that the students who reported a worse quality of sleep signaled a higher frequency in memory complaints. The participants who believe that the university routine causes an increase in memory failures claimed to have a very bad quality of sleep. Conclusion. There is an association between sleep quality and memory complaints, students who reported worse sleep quality had higher frequency of memory complaints.Attribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/sonomemórianeurocienciasestudanteseducação superiorAutopercepção de queixas de memória e de qualidade do sono em universitáriosSelf-perceptionofmemory complaints and sleep quality in college studentsarticlehttps://doi.org/10.34024/rnc.2022.v30.14241
