The study stems from growing concern over the increasing frequency of discourses in Brazilian society — especially from fundamentalist religious sectors — that discredit the University, particularly the Humanities, by unjustly accusing them of promoting ideological indoctrination. In response, this research investigates how the Philosophy course at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte influences — or not — the formation and consolidation of worldviews among its students and professors. To this end, questionnaires were applied to graduating students, alumni, and faculty members, seeking to identify whether the philosophical education offered acts as an agent of transformation or merely reaffirms pre-existing conceptions. The study adopts a mixed methodological approach, combining theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis based on qualitative and quantitative data. The theoretical foundation includes thinkers such as Kant and Wilhelm Dilthey, who contributed to the concept of “worldview”, understood here as the integrated and global way in which individuals and cultures perceive and interpret the world. The work also traces the trajectory of UFRN’s Philosophy course since its inception in 1979, highlighting its role in fostering critical, democratic, and civic education. Although it does not explore specific philosophical systems, the study offers an original reflection on the role of UFRN's Philosophy course as a space for personal and existential transformation. As Heraclitus said, no one steps into the same river twice — and passing through Philosophy inevitably leaves one transformed.pt-BRCosmovisão. Filosofia. Weltanschauung. Formação crítica.
