This is an integrative literature review, conducted in the Scielo, Eric, Scopus, Web of Science, Medline via PubMed and Lilacs via the Virtual Health Library (BVS) databases, in January 2025. To increase the sensitivity of the search, the snowball technique was also used. The Rayyan software was used to identify and exclude duplicate articles and then to screen the studies that made up the sample. The results indicated that, although storytelling demonstrates potential as a playful and educational tool in the school environment, its specific application in promoting the health of Brazilian schoolchildren is still poorly systematized. Most of the initiatives found were specific, without continuous integration into the curriculum or active participation of students. The practice has generally been conducted by health professionals and associated with other pedagogical activities, with an emphasis on raising awareness, building bonds and facilitating the understanding of complex health issues. It is concluded that storytelling is a promising strategy for health education for schoolchildren, especially due to its humanizing, affective and culturally significant nature. However, it is necessary to increase its value in the context of intersectoral public policies, in addition to investing in the training of health and education professionals to ensure its continuous, critical and participatory application.pt-BRContação de histórias.
