Monografia (Graduação em Ciências Contábeis) - Centro de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2022.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/48970The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics and economic-financial behavior of Natal families; this analysis was carried out through the application of a questionnaire prepared based on the classification of social strata of the Abep (Brazilian Association of Companies and Research), the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) Household Budget Survey, in addition to questions about the economic-financial behavior. The sample is composed of 85 families residing in the city of Natal/RN. After analyzing the acquired data, it was observed that the families are predominantly from class C; demand greater portions of their income for expenses with food, transportation and housing and do not demand significant amounts to increase assets; high use of credit cards and regular use for installment purchases were identified; in addition to identifying a high degree of indebtedness, with a significant portion in a situation of risk indebtedness and over-indebtedness; A low degree of financial knowledge was identified, which translates into ineffective financial planning and lack of control in the use of affordable credit, generating indebtedness and default, coupled with other factors, causes a significantly high impact on the wellbeing of families.
