The objective of this work is to investigate the narrative strategies used in the books to represent the female characters and the violence perpetrated against them. To this end, we sought to: place the novels among the testimonial narratives produced about that period; identify the violations of rights suffered by these female characters; analyze whether there are peculiarities in their characterization in the novels under study. The research has a bibliographical nature and adopts a qualitative approach based on the dialectical method as proposed by Candido (2014), with the purpose of articulating literature and society from a gender perspective. The analysis is based on Gagnebin (2006), Franco (2003), Seligmann-Silva (2003), Dalcastagnè (1996, 2023), Saffioti (2015) and Jelin (2002), in addition to the critical fortune of the works under study.
