Objective: To describe the impacts related to the use of breastfeeding accessories in the continuity of breastfeeding. Method: The present study is an integrative review based on articles published in the literature from January/2016 to August/2021 it is an integrative review of the literature, in the Sciverse SCOPUS, Virtual Health Library (BVS), EMBASE and ScIELO, carried out from September 2021 to January 2022, using the descriptors: breastfeeding, weaning, nipples, wounds and injuries, pacifiers and nursing. To guide the strategy for the elaboration of the research question and facilitate bibliographic searches, an adaptation of the PICO strategy for PCC was used. Result: the review covered twenty studies published between 2016 and 2021. Based on the analysis of the selected manuscripts, a sample of 18 articles was obtained to compose the study. The manuscript article was categorized into two cores: 1) In addition to the benefits of breastfeeding – the importance of prenatal guidance; and 2) The use of accessories for breastfeeding - breast complications and early weaning. From the analysis, several accessories such as: pacifiers, bottles, intermediate nipples, breastfeeding shells, early or disorderly use, can lead to early weaning or breast complications. Conclusion: the use of breastfeeding accessories has implications for maternal and neonatal health.
