Monografia (Graduação) Departamento de Odontologia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2017https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/39015This systematic review aims to show the advantages of using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in orthodontic documentation, instead of conventional imaging exams in the diagnosis and treatment plan of impacted teeth. The databases used to search the articles were MEDLINE and PubMed. The selection of the articles was initiated with the reading of the titles, followed by the analysis of the abstracts and finally the full reading of the article. The search resulting in 251 articles, which after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria were left 05 studies. These studies showed that feminine gender is the most affected with impacted canines, besides that, they showed the CBCT was more effective in locating impacted canines, as in detection of root resorptions in adjacent teeth, and finally that type of image examination influences the treatment plan.
