Exclusive breastfeeding provides several benefits for both the newborn and the woman who is breastfeeding; however, cases of women with breast complications and a lack of knowledge on how to manage these complications are common. Therefore, it is important to empower mothers with the necessary information to promote breastfeeding and prevent the emergence of breast complications that could lead to early weaning. This study aims to: develop an educational material containing information to support the prevention of breast complications resulting from breastfeeding. It is a literature review study, descriptive and exploratory in nature, based on bibliographies published between 2018 and 2023, available in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and Public Medical (PUBMED) In the searches in both databases, the following descriptors and the Boolean operator were used: Breastfeeding AND Health Education AND Breastfeeding, Breastfeeding AND Health Education AND Breast-feeding. The literature discusses breastfeeding, the bond between mother and baby that it provides, fostering greater connection, protection, and affection. The success of breastfeeding is directly proportional to the well-being of the postpartum woman, the promotion of her health, and especially that of the newborn. The interruption of exclusive breastfeeding is mostly related to the appearance of breast complications that interfere with and hinder the continuation of breastfeeding. The trend is to offer infant formulas, which increase the likelihood of early weaning. To prevent early weaning, health education actions are essential, enabling access to health information that encourages breastfeeding and prevents the occurrence of breast complications, which are the main causes of exclusive breastfeeding interruption. The bibliographic survey formed the basis for the creation of a technical-scientific product for the promotion of health education. The material contains a compilation of guidelines and recommendations for breast care that allow for the prevention, definition, and treatment of the most prevalent breast complications. The material is educational, with easy to-understand text and illustrative images. Therefore, the educational material developed is of utmost importance for postpartum women who are breastfeeding, as well as for healthcare services, as it disseminates health information to this audience, who are often uninformed, have not received prenatal education, and face difficulties during breastfeeding, which predispose them to early weaningAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 BrazilAleitamento Materno.AmamentaçãoEducação em SaúdeBreastfeedingBreast-feedingHealth EducationPrevenção das complicações mais prevalentes do aleitamento materno: elaboração de um material educativo em saúdePrevention of the most prevalent complications of breastfeeding: development of an educational health materialbachelorThesis
