Methodology: This is a prospective cohort observational study, developed between July 2017 and January 2019 with pregnant women living in the region of Trairi, Rio Grande do Norte. Adolescents (13-18 years) and adults (23-28 years) in their first pregnancy were included. Data collection took place at three times: up to 16 weeks of gestation, in the last trimester and between the fourth and sixth week postpartum. The ARS was assessed using a scale ranging from 0 to 100, in which those reporting ARS <70 were classified as moderate/poor health. Handgrip strength and hip adductor strength were measured using dynamometry. Strength means were presented according to the ARS and compared using Student t test. Subsequently, multiple linear regression analysis was used to observe the relationship between ARS and muscle strength measures in each of the evaluation times. Results: Women who reported moderate/poor ARS reported worse income. Moderate/poor ARS was associated with lower mean hip adductor strength (10.44 KgF; p-value: 0.012) in the last gestational trimester among adolescents. The relationship between handgrip strength and ARS was not significant for both groups. Conclusion: The strength of hip adductors in the third gestational trimester is an important measure for the perception of the health status of adolescents.Gravidez na adolescênciSaúdeForça muscularQuadrilPeríodo pós-partoAssociação entre o autorrelato de saúde e a força muscular de gestantesAssociation between health self-report and pregnant women muscle strengthbachelorThesis
