In this way, several studies and documents brought a different view to teachers regarding pedagogical practices. After more than thirty years, there is still concern in the area of education regarding such problems. In order to contribute even more to the research already carried out regarding reading in schools, the need was felt to seek more information and reflect on this subject, which is of paramount importance for the area of education. The objective of our work is to produce a didactic sequence with a literary book for students in the 5th year of elementary school - initial years. The research fits into a qualitative approach, based on bibliographical reference material and research in repositories such as UEPB - Universidade Estadual da Paraíba, books, scientific articles and dissertations. We take as theoretical basis the following authors Brasil (1987), Brasil (2017), Rojo (2009), Lopes (2023), Kleiman (1998), Silva; Martins (2010), Soares (1996), Cosson (2010) (2021), among others.
