Reflecting on the deaf individual in their family, social, economic, cultural and psychological context within Dahlgren and Whitehead's Social Determinants of Health (DSS) is an effective strategy for understanding the deaf community and its relationships with the health-disease process. Objective: To understand the different experiences of the deaf individual, his family and life context, based on the DSS. Method: This is a descriptive, exploratory, cross-sectional study with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out in the Trairí region, in Rio Grande do Norte, and deaf people over 18 years of age and their respective family members, also of legal age, deaf or hearing, were included, indicated by the deaf person as a family member. Sampling took place using the snowball method and was limited by theoretical saturation. The data collection technique was carried out from a semi-structured interview, carried out online by video call. The findings that emerged from the participants' speeches during the interviews were analyzed and discussed through the theoretical framework referring to the themes of the work, such as the areas of Family, family health, Collective Health and DSS. Results: As for schooling, completion of high school and incomplete higher education stands out. Regarding religion, half say they are Catholic, but there is variation between Protestantism and Spiritism. The family members participating in the research are aged between 19 and 45 years, all of whom are female. Regarding marital status and education, all are single and most have completed higher education. As for religion, only one declared having no religion, showing dominance of the Catholic religion. After conducting the interviews, the participants' speeches were transcribed into Portuguese. The textual reading provided the emergence of groups with thematic approaches, referring to the conceptions, areas to be investigated and discussed and the behaviors of the interviewees. Such groups were titled and categorized by the author, totaling 7 codifications. Final considerations: I tried to find the specificities of the interviewees in the DSS layers, it can be said that there is a distinction between the social determinants of individuals, since each one was inserted in a unique context, with realities and challenges of each family. However, thematic coding contributed to converge thoughts and understand, mainly, that the health-disease process takes place from access to social instruments, services and public policies that minimize social inequalities. Clearly, it is clear that the role of the Nursing professional strongly enables the inclusion and access of deaf users in different health contexts.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Determinantes Sociais de SaúdeFamíliaSurdezSaúde ColetivaO surdo e sua família: uma análise qualitativa a partir dos Determinantes Sociais da SaúdeThe deaf person and his family: a qualitative analysis based on the Social Determinants of HealthbachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::ENFERMAGEM::ENFERMAGEM DE SAUDE PUBLICA
