Thus, physical and digital characteristics of a product, such as supermarkets' self-checkout machines, can positively or negatively impact wheelchair users' experience, especially when there isn't a regulation establishing appropriate standards. So this paper's purpose was to analyse whether self-checkout machines have been designed to be used by wheelchair users. The Fox Self Checkout model, found where the research was done, was used as a reference model. To achieve this objective, the Double Diamond was chosen as the methodology and combined with some methods from the User Capacity Toolkit to analyse the user experience, ergonomic and accessibility; qualitative and quantitative research done through Google Forms and interviewed a wheelchair user; usability accessibility and ergonomics evaluation done through a scenario form which It was able to understand and analyse improvements based on Nielsen (usability) and Boudreau (accessibility) heuristics; ergonomics evaluation from an observation of the wheelchair user, RULA and an interview to collect feedbacks from his experience. This paper has generated diagnostic information, improvements, alternative designs and feedback on a self-checkout machine.
