This study is guided by the following research question: what are the reasons given by managers of Long-Term Care Facilities (LTCFs) in Natal-RN for not implementing bibliotherapy activities in their institutions? The main objective is to analyze these reasons from the perspective of the managers. The specific objectives are: to verify whether therapeutic reading practices are used; to assess managers' knowledge about the concept and benefits of bibliotherapy; to identify facilitators for its adoption; and to recognize the main barriers that hinder its implementation. This is a basic research study, with a qualitative-quantitative approach and exploratory-descriptive character, using semi-structured interviews with managers from seven institutions in the city. The results showed that lack of knowledge about the practice is the main obstacle, with all interviewees reporting unfamiliarity with bibliotherapy. Financial constraints were also identified as a significant factor, including by representatives of private institutions. Other aspects, such as the absence of qualified professionals and the profile of the residents, were cited as additional challenges. Despite the limitations, the managers expressed interest in implementing bibliotherapy, provided there is training, institutional support, and adjustments to the infrastructure. It is concluded that bibliotherapy represents a viable alternative for humanized care in LTCFs, provided the identified barriers are overcome.pt-BRAttribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/BiblioterapiaLeitura terapêuticaIdososBibliotherapyTherapeutic readingElderlyA biblioterapia em Instituições de Longa Permanência para Idosos (ILPIS)bachelorThesisCIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS::CIENCIA DA INFORMACAO::BIBLIOTECONOMIA
