In this aspect, periods of urgent adaptations have been placed on the world stage with regard to the most diverse social spheres. Specific areas such as economic and legal health were faced with a new and little-studied panorama, having, therefore, to adapt drastically and quickly to the situation. The impacts concerning daily proliferation intensified with thousands of deaths and subsequent consequences for human health. Less significant than the unreasonable and astonishing result of mass deaths, as well as the physical and psychological damage that the disease brought, the second biggest damage occurred in the economic aspect. The increase in market value caused by the lack of demand and inflation led to the bankruptcy of several sectors of commerce and services, which now faced an unprecedented health and economic crisis, generating an economic and social catastrophe. Given this scenario, the option found by commerce and the service sector in general was large-scale dismissal or the vehement search to proceed with the attempt to minimize the impacts that mass unemployment could cause. The use of the institutes of working hours reduction and suspension of employment contracts were seen as short-term solutions to, depending on the perspective used, proceed with benefit or harm with regard to the worker. In this context, the present work will deal with the issue concerning the suspension of employment contracts, focusing on the period of mass contagion occurred by Covid-19, aiming to investigate the impact of the use of this labor institute in employment contracts. A critical analysis of the laws established in such a period of time will be presented, especially Provisional Measure No. 936/2020, which was converted into Law No. 14.020/2020, some decrees in this regard, as well as the analysis of the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) ), which already contains provisions for changing the employment contract regarding suspension with specific nuances. Furthermore, an analysis of the impacts caused by such suspensions will be carried out, with observation of the practical effects that affect the employment relationship. For this, the applied methodology finds bases in the bibliographical and jurisprudential research, in order to obtain information and positions regarding the approached theme, serving, in this perspective, as an impetus to continue the discussion regarding the social consequences that may be placed.Covid-19.
