Over time, there was the evolution of clothing and the advance in the aesthetic concern of clothes, increasing their manufacture. Currently, people are consuming more and more, not just for mere basic needs and, as a result, the use of natural resources increases and discard is often carried out inappropriately. Although there is a lot of incorrect discard of clothes, there are correct discard ways. There are not many studies about the reason related to discard, whether it is a concern for the environment or a pro-social concern, which is why we set out to develop the present work. Having a sample of 642 participants, who answered sociodemographic, socioeconomic and thematic questionnaires, we identified that participants have a tendency to consume clothes, even when they reflect on whether they really need to buy new clothes; that there are preferential ways of discard, with donation being the most frequent discard; and that there is a significant difference regarding the discard of clothes, whose main concern is pro-sociality when compared to concern for the environment.DescarteRoupasMeio AmbientePró-socialidadeConsumoDiscardClothesEnvironmentPro-socialityConsumptionbachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS BIOLOGICAS
