Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Fonoaudiologia) - Departamento de Fonoaudiologia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2023.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/56077Objective: To compare performance in speech motor skills of adults and elderly people in Rio Grande do Norte. Methods: The sample was selected by convenience and in a non-probabilistic way. The sample was made up of 30 adults, aged between 19 and 59 years, and 30 elderly people aged 60 or over, who met the inclusion criteria, namely: of any education, of both genders, who lived in Rio Grande do Norte for more than 10 years, with no history of neurological or psychiatric illness. During data collection, participants performed: 1) reading and signing the free and informed consent form; 2) response to the sample characterization instrument, to obtain sociodemographic data and eligibility criteria; 3) application of cognitive screening, geriatric depression and dependence tests in activities of daily living; 4) carrying out orofacial motricity screening to detect the presence of oromyofunctional changes related to aging; 5) performance of speech motor tasks. The data were analyzed statistically, in a descriptive and inferential way, using the Mann-Whitney and Pearson Correlation tests, adopting a significance level of 5%. Results: Adults achieved better results than elderly people in all speech motor tasks performed. When compared between genders, it was observed that among both men and women, adults performed better than the elderly in all tasks. Finally, a negative correlation was observed between age and the alternating motor tasks /pa/ (p=0.010), /ta/ (p=0.002), /ka/ (p=0.007) and the sequenced one (p=0.027) . Conclusion: The performance of adults and elderly people from Rio Grande do Norte in both the alternating speech motor tasks /pa/, /ta/, /ka/ and the sequence /pataka/ were different. The older the age, the lower the performance in speech motor tasks.FalaMedidas de produção de falaTestes de articulação da falaAvaliaçãoIdosoAdultoFonoaudiologiaSpeechSpeech production measuresSpeech articulation testsAssessmentElderlyAdultSpeech, language and hearing therapyDesempenho de tarefas motoras de fala de adultos e idososPerformance of speech motor tasks of adults and elderly peoplebachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::FONOAUDIOLOGIA
