Because it is a sport that has sophisticated materials for your practice, when this content is approached often the teacher limited the manner that doesn’t require materials, however , so that students can learn more about the athletics, the teacher can use the creativity and build with students alternative materials needed, which will help in teaching and student learning process. Our research has as main objective to analyze the importance of building alternative materials to practice athletics in school physical education, taking into account the fact that the school is inserted and has the following objectives prepare materials from the use of scrap and such as building materials influence on student learning or teaching. The methodological approach is qualitative-descriptive, which we use as a research tool to collect data applying a questionnaire to the teacher, “field diary" with notes on the lessons of the proposed teaching unit and at the end, the application of questionnaire to students. The intervention had as proposed the construction of teaching materials with the students for teaching athletics content and was developed with the students of 4th year of elementary school , in the “Colégio São José”, located in the municipality of “São Paulo do Potengi”/RN, during the period from July 23 to September 24.
