Escola de Música, Universidade Federal do rio Grande do Norte, 2025.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/61520This work presents an account of an experience in musical education within the scope of keyboard teaching at the Assembly of God church in Canguaretama, highlighting its musical relevance both for the faithful and for the community in general. As a theoretical foundation, in addition to studies on the relationship between music and religion, highlighting the central role of music in evangelical churches, it is supported by the ideas of British educator Keith Swanwick (1931). Musical teaching was discussed as a technical training tool, promoting musical skills and communion among the faithful. The traditional pedagogical approach was highlighted as the predominant method, prioritizing repetition, memorization and technical mastery. The research, qualitative in nature, was based on an experience report, complemented by a bibliographic and documentary review, allowing a critical analysis of the pedagogical practices experienced. The results were very positive, showing students' technical and perceptual progress, from basic learning to fluent performance of musical pieces.
