Adherence to prenatal care is influenced by socioeconomic factors such as education, housing, and employment, which affect the quantity and quality of consultations. Objective: The study aimed to verify the association between maternal adherence to prenatal consultations and the sociodemographic, clinical, and care aspects of their children attended at a maternity hospital in Santa Cruz, Rio Grande do Norte. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional study using secondary data, with an observational and quantitative approach. Results: The sample included n=183 records, with n=43 (23.5%) having fewer than six consultations and n=140 (76.5%) with six or more. Women aged 16 to 35 had six or more consultations (45.7%). Among those with fewer than six consultations, a significant portion had between 9 and 11 years of education (23.3%) and identified as smokers (14%). Among mothers with low adherence, 32.6% had newborns with low birth weight, and 30.2% were born at less than 34 weeks. Deaths were concentrated among newborns of women with fewer than six consultations (11.6%). Conclusion: An association was found between low adherence to prenatal care and younger age groups, low educational level, smoking, low birth weight, and prematurity. The data from this study highlight the importance of adequate prenatal follow-up to prevent perinatal complications.Attribution-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/3.0/br/Consulta pré-natalGestanteRecém nascidoFatores socioeconômicosAssociação entre a adesão materna às consultas de pré-natal e os aspectos sociodemográficos, clínicos e assistenciais de seus filhos atendidos em um hospital maternidadeAssociation between maternal adherence to prenatal consultations and the sociodemographic, clinical and care aspects of their children attended in a maternity hospitalbachelorThesis
