However, the prolonged drought that hit the Seridó region in the period from 2011 to 2019, hampered the consolidation of tourism in that municipality. In this sense, the general objective of this work is to evaluate the municipal actions that aimed to mitigate the effects of the prolonged drought in Currais Novos / RN and that contributed to the development of tourism in the Seridó region. For this, the quantitative, qualitative, descriptive, documentary and bibliographic research methodology was adopted. Two forms were prepared for data collection, the first was directed to entrepreneurs in the tourist trade who pointed out the main effects of the drought in their establishments, and the second was directed to the public sector, which presented the main actions carried out in order to contribute to living with drought in the municipality. The results show that the tourist activity in the municipality was impaired as a result of the drought, given that there was a decrease in the flow of customers, some companies closed and events stopped occurring in that period. In addition, it was possible to identify that there were no government actions aimed at encouraging tourism during this dry season.
