Methodological study developed in three steps: Content Validation, Semantic Validation and Clinical Validation. In the first stage, Content Validation, 23 experts and 10 nurses participated in the composition of the consensus group. The second step, semantic validation, consisted of 15 clinical practice nurses from a university hospital located in northeastern Brazil. The third stage, clinical validation, consisted of 72 patients admitted to the intensive care unit. The collected data were organized and stored in a database built in Microsoft Office Excel 2016 and analyzed by a specific statistical program. This study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte by CAAE No. 71452817.5.0000.5537 and opinion No. 2444761 and followed Resolution No. 466/12 approved by the National Health Council of the Ministry of Health. In the first stage, of the 14 indicators evaluated by the experts, seven had a Content Validity Index of less than 0.80. Then, in the consensus group validation six indicators were reformulated. In the Semantic Validation stage, the 14 indicators showed agreement when obtaining Kappa ≥ 0.80. Regarding Clinical Validation, 72 patients were selected and 144 eyes were evaluated by two pairs of nurses: one with the Nursing Outcomes Classification Dry Eye Severity indicators and no indicators validated in previous stages with respective definitions. constitutive, operational and operational magnitudes. Evaluations were compared by Intraclass Correlation Coefficient and Friedman test. The evaluators who used indicators with the definitions presented correlation in the evaluation of the results. From this, the indicators with constitutive, operational definitions and operational magnitudes of the Dry Eye Gravity nursing result are valid for application in intensive care unit patients.
