Socioeconomic studies of the population of the "North Zone'' point to a physical and symbolic distance from this region and to its unfeasibility caused by the lack of infrastructure and urban services and the negligence of the City administration. The paper seeks to answer how the segregated city impacts the lives of Natal residents and denies them the right to the city. The research is qualitative, with a literature review and analysis of socioeconomic data, to understand the formation of cities and the denial of the social function of land in favor of real estate speculation and capital. In addition, it analyzes the administration of the city of Natal, through the "Master Plans," and the life of the population in the "North Zone."
