The methodology has been based on the comparison of Coastlines and Digital Elevation Models of the barrier island, on trimestral scale, to obtain erosion/accretion areas and volumes and the sand sediment balance fl owchart. The map analysis has also allowed identifying the orientation of the sediment transport on the Coastline and the consequences on the sediment balance. The results demonstrate that the barrier island has had a positive planimetric balance, with 176.013m² of accretion; however, its volumetric balance has been negative, with -554.367m³ of erosion. In spite of the planimetric gain, the mentioned data evidences that the barrier island has suffered a reduction of its sediment volume on short-term seasonal scaleAttribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/br/Ilha BarreiraMorfodinâmicaLinha de CostaModelo Digital de ElevaçãoGeodésia de precisão aplicada à análise da evolução morfodinãmica de curto prazo na ilha barreira do corta cachorro, litoral do Rio Grande do Norte, nordeste do BrasilPrecision geodesy applyed to the analysis of the shortterm morphodynamic evolution in corta cachorro barrier island, coast of Rio Grande do Norte, Northeast Brazilarticle10.20502/rbg.v15i3.514
