Bibliographic review: DMD is a severe genetic myopathy, characterized by an orthopedic, cardiac, and respiratory impairment, were it leads to the early death of the individual. Inflammation has a fundamental role in the pathophysiology of DMD. Elevated levels of cytokines and inflammatory markers, such as IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-17, activators and recruiters of inflammatory cells, seem to be related to the progression of the disease. Final considerations: Serum, tissue, and muscle levels of inflammatory markers were described as high in relation to healthy individuals. The association between inflammatory markers and the progression of DMD seems to be a peculiarity of the disease. Understanding this relationship is important for the establishment of new therapeutic approaches aimed at DMD. However, there is still a shortage on the subject in the literature. Therefore, there is a need for further related studiesen-USInterleucina-1Interleucina-6Interleucina-17Fator de necrose tumoral alfaMediadores da inflamaçãoInterleukin-1Interleukin-6Interleukin-17Tumor necrosis factor alphaInflammation mediatorsCitocinas inflamatórias na distrofia muscular de Duchenne: uma revisão narrativaInflammatory cytokines in Duchenne muscle dystrophy: a narrative reviewCitoquinas inflamatorias en distrofia muscular de Duchenne: revisión narrativaarticle
