Within the educational context, educational software is gaining space as an aid tool in the teaching-learning process. However, the difficulty in using this tool in a way that promotes learning among teachers and pupils is still a problem with this approach. On the other hand, technological and computational advancement has enabled ways to solve some of these difficulties. In this context, the present work proposes a usability evaluation of free educational software, GCompris, available in educational Linux. The evaluation is done through the use of a questionnaire, based on the methodology of an evaluation system of pedagogical Software (SAUSP), proposed to the teachers of the municipal network and students, future teachers, of pedagogy courses of universities of Caicó-RN.
