Aim: To evaluate the influence of functional capacity on the quality of life and sleep in active hypertensive patients. Methods: A cross-sectional study with a convenience sample where the functional capacity was assessed through the 6MWT, mobility with the Sit-up, Timed up and Go and Sit-up test on the chair. Quality of life was assessed by the SF-36 questionnaire and quality of sleep by The Pittsburgh scale. In the descriptive analysis, mean and standard deviation and absolute and relative frequencies were used. Kolmogorov-Smirnov for normality and Pearson's test for correlations. We used the statistical package Graphpad Prism 5.0 and significance level of p <0.05. Results: Twenty-nine hypertensive patients (27.5% male/ 72,42% female) with a mean age of 60,1 ± 10,3 years and a mean BMI of 27,5 ± 4,6 kg/m2 participated of this study . They presented on average 7,5 ± 1,3 seconds for the TUG, 480,1 ± 93.45 m for distance walked on the 6MWT, for sit-up activity ( score 3,83 ± 1,9; score 3,31±2,1, respectively and 12,42 ± 3,2 seconds for the sit-up test on the chair. The sample presents 6,68 ± 1,1 hours of sleep and 82,7% reported poor quality of sleep. There was a positive correlation between the 6MWT (r = 0.6, p = 0.002), sit-up of the chair (r = 0.4, p = 0.02) and general health status of the SF-36 (r = 0.4, p = 0.02).
