The choice of the topic was based on the need for updated data and the positioning of industry relative to the state's economic activities. The analysis used data from the Annual Industrial Survey, Gross Domestic Product, and the Central Business Register, starting with the state's position in the national context and moving towards assessments focused on the scope of the study. The development process examined the historical context of Rio Grande do Norte as a whole in relation to its GDP, Industrial Transformation Value, Gross Added Value, Local Units, and Occupied Persons distributed by mesoregions, microregions, and occasionally highlighting key points from some municipalities. This study aims to gather the most recent data while discussing the factors driving Rio Grande do Norte's position in the national economic scenario, and to provoke reflection on potential strategies for improving the presented indicators.
