Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Letras - Língua Portuguesa e Literatura) - Departamento de Letras, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2023.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/56918Given the observation that there are few studies involving the discussion of the search for an ideal reality by the protagonist of the short story “Pomba Enamorada ou Uma História de Amor” by Lygia Fagundes Telles, the present work aims to analyze the configuration of romantic idealization in the selected short story, highlighting the intersection of the real, which is the reality experienced by the character in the narrative, and the ideal, which is the created and desired fantasy, which underpins the love situation projected by the protagonist character. Thus, the analysis contemplates the reasons for the development of an obsession on the part of Pomba Enamorada, taking into account the romantic aspects constructed in his imagination from fiction and the media. Therefore, when approaching the literary work, description, explanation, and interpretation were used as ways of understanding aspects of the Lygian tale. Furthermore, there was a basis for theoretical material focusing on the specificities of the textual genre in question using Gotlib (2006) and Cortázar (2006); to analyze how Pomba Enamorada shapes its reality using different beliefs, Trindade (2017), Banzhaf (1998) and Simas (2022) were used; finally, to address the protagonist's influences that led her to idealize a love story, Lazaro (1996), Dowling (2012) and Fromm (2015) were used.
