Based on an applied research, the work seeks to identify project management principles and elements that could be used in the development of a tool to be used by architects in their design process, with the ultimate goal of reducing errors in the project and construction phases. This study stems from the need to better understand the design process as a whole, not only the graphic presentation and final products, but also the documentation of the process in order to decompose and register every step. Thus, the research aimed to contribute to an improvement of the coordination of the design process and results in a professional context, which implies a betterment of the built environment. Besides the literature review, the methodology was structured through an exploratory research among architects acting professionally in northeast Brazil. From the results obtained in this initial research, a few companies were selected as case studies for the direct application of Scrum in their design process.
