The primary aim was to investigate how play contributes to children's cognitive, social, and emotional development and how these practices are implemented in the school context. The study included a literature review, which revealed that play is an essential component of the educational process. Academic sources highlighted that playful activities facilitate the acquisition of cognitive and social skills, promote emotional and physical development, and assist in adapting to the school environment. The bibliographic research provided a solid foundation on the importance of play and the best pedagogical practices for incorporating it into the curriculum. The case study was conducted during a mandatory internship at an early childhood education school, where the daily play practices of the students were observed. It was noted that playful activities, such as circle games and outdoor play, are fundamental for welcoming children, fostering social interaction, and supporting motor development. The observation also emphasized the importance of inclusion and the adaptation of play activities to meet the needs of all children, including those with special needs.
