In this context, the gravel drilling, obtained by drilling of oil wells in the geological formations rich in limestone rocks, has as elements majority oxides of calcium and quartz, giving them characteristics allowable as an alternative source of raw material for porous coatings, in addition to immobilize it in arrays argillaceous aiming at diminishing the environmental impact. In this study, the authors conducted a randomized mixtures of raw materials and, after this, were obtained ten formulations, among them, three participated in the optimization process through the factorial design. Raw Materials used were characterized by the following techniques: Chemical Analysis by X-ray Fluorescence, Mineralogical Analysis by X-ray Diffraction, Sieve Analysis and Thermal Analysis by Thermogravimetry and Termodiferencial. After the thermal cycles from 1070 to 1160 °C were analyzed the results of firing linear shrinkage, water absorption, resistance to bending three points, X ray diffraction after burning and scanning electron microscopy sintered specimens.
