Methods: Retrospective cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. It Held in a municipal motherhood Natal / RN. It was identified and evaluated 53 reporting forms and medical records of post cesarean SSI women, between 2010-2013, through a form. Data were analyzed using the statistical software, SPSS, version 17.0. Results: The post cesarean SSI rate was 2.92%, in the analyzed period. Among the patients studied, Most had low education; urinary tract infection, hypertension, obesity and smoking. The most prevalent microbial agent was Staphylococcus aureus. And the most used antibiotic was Cefazolin. Conclusions: The rate of post cesarean SSI and some risk factors identified emphasize the need for prior research and record these. We also point the importance of professionals in the provision of preventive care guidance and preparation of patients safely.
