Análise faciológica, petrográfica e diagenética das rochas carbonáticas da Formação Jandaíra na Caverna Furna Feia, Bacia Potiguar. Orientador: Francisco Pinheiro Lima Filho. 2022. 95 f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação) - Curso de Geologia, Departamento de Geologia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2022.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/51007This final paper is focused on the Furna Feia cave, in the Parque Nacional da Furna Feia, located in the municipalities of Baraúna and Mossoró, Rio Grande do Norte. Its origin is associated with the intensive karstification of the Jandaíra Formation carbonate rocks, which are related to the Drift Phase of the Potiguar Basin, more specifically, to the Marine Transgressive Supersequences. The walls of the Furna Feia cave reveal a vertical succession of 13 layers of limestones and dolomites, arranged in 3 beds. In order to classify these rocks according to the classification of Terra et al. (2010), to establish possible depositional systems and to reconstruct their diagenetic evolution, petrographic analysis and field works were carried out. 32 thin sections of the 13 layers were produced and described. A columnar section was made based on field observations and microscopic information. Limestones with cross-stratifications and low matrix content are prevalent on the first and third beds. Meanwhile, massive dolomitic limestones and dolomites occur on the second bed. 9 sedimentary facies were identified: Dolomites (Dol), Bioclastic wackestones (W bio), Dolomitic bioclastic wackestones (W dol), Dolomitic bioclastic packstones (P dol), Bioclastic packstones (P bio), Cross-bedded bioclastic floatstones (Flo est), Dolomitic bioclastic grainstones (G dol), Cross-bedded “algae” grainstones (G al est) and Cross-bedded bioclastic rudstones (Rud est). The first four facies form a Low Energy Facies Association and represent lagoonal deposits; the last five facies form a High Energy Facies Association and represent tidal bars deposits. During eodiagenesis, the sediments underwent a first dolomitization process in a water mixing zone. Calcite cementation caused the reduction of primary porosity. Mechanical and chemical compaction, cementation by blocky sparry calcite, a second dolomitization event, dissolution and precipitation of gypsum occurred during mesodiagenesis. At last, an extensive dissolution process, caused by meteoric water circulation, promoted the karstification of the carbonate rocks and the formation of the cave during telodiagenesis.Bacia PotiguarFormação JandaíraFurna FeiaPetrografiaFácies SedimentaresDiagênesePotiguar BasinJandaíra FormationPetrographySedimentary FaciesDiagenesisAnálise petrográfica, faciológica e diagenética das rochas carbonáticas da Formação Jandaíra na Caverna Furna Feia, Bacia PotiguarbachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::GEOCIENCIAS::GEOLOGIACNPQ::CIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::GEOCIENCIAS::GEOLOGIA::PETROLOGIACNPQ::CIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::GEOCIENCIAS::GEOLOGIA::ESTRATIGRAFIA
