So this research aims to analyze alternatives for the application of inventory management practices present in the administration of materials in a small food distribution company, through the mapping of the practices already used by the organization, identification of possible flaws in their practices and the demonstration of improvements. For this, a descriptive and quantitative research was adopted, through the collection of documentary data and the observation of the practices used. Among the main results, it was found that the chosen organization only used the pulled production practices, the valuation method of FIFO stocks and the continuous review resupply model, using no method to define optimal inventory levels, production or purchase, to initially define the size of inventories, based on the work of the theoretical survey and empirical bibliography, an ABC rating was initially developed, products that fall under class A have been defined a safety stock and the preparation of an economic production lot.
