Since 2003, through the Integral Attention Politics to Alcohol and Drug Users, Brazil restated drug usage as a complex public health phenomenon, claiming as a theoretical-political-ethical landmark the Damage Reduction (RD) perspective. To formalize the attention to psychoactive substances users, through the GM 225/02 ordinance new rules and guidelines were established for the organization of services which offer assistance in metal health, the Psychosocial Attention Centers (CAPS), including CAPS meant to assist people who make abusive/harmful use of alcohol and other psychoactive substances, the CAPS ad. As a professional for this service, it was observed the need for Permanent Education Action for the team, as a qualification strategy, a fact that does not exist in the daily life of CAPS ad, in the city in Caicó-RN. This research aimed to identify the knowledge of the staff of a CAPS ad about psychoactive substance user assistance and to develop continuing education activities about the mental health work process. Action research conducted at CAPS ad from Caicó-RN, from June / 2018 to January / 2019, approved by the Ethics Committee through opinion CAAE No. 89520618.2.0000.5568. A questionnaire was applied to 13 participants on topics related to mental health and psychoactive substance use, as well as socio-demographic and professional characterization data and information about the National Policy on Mental Health, Psychiatric Reform and Assistance to people with problems related to the use of drugs. SPA (care and clinic management, humanization in health, PTS, among others). Six workshops were held between November 2018 and January 2019, with an average attendance of seven workers. The methodological proposal of conducting workshops allowed the EPS process to happen in an interactive way, ensuring the participatory character, the creation of opportunities for discussion and reflection of the work processes, stimulating mutual learning and dialogue between the team. The results indicated indexes of workers' previous knowledge, with sufficient knowledge on average of 75%.
