This violence evident in the current context made us take as an object of study the short story Maria, by Conceição Evaristo, which deals with racial prejudice experienced by poor and black women, and based on this object, we thought of a didactic proposal aimed at a first-class class high school series with the aim of reflecting on the structural racism present in contemporary society. Our research has a qualitative and applied approach. As for methodological procedures, we carried out a bibliographical research and were based on Law 10,639/2003, the National Common Curricular Base - BNCC (2018), as well as the authors Almeida (2019), Ribeiro (2019) and others who helped us understand about the racism. Through a basic sequence inspired by Cosson (2021) and holding conversation circles, we will seek to provide opportunities for debates and reflections with the intention of fostering the development of anti-racist education.
