The confirmation of the fact that schools only approach the possibilities of the literary texts in a lateral way, more precisely those related to poetic texts, was also a starting point considered in this study. Furthermore, classroom studies and practices also pointed to the necessity of searching for new ways of working with poetry that may draw the attention and interest of the young reader so as to benefit the projection of his subjectivity concerning reading and construction of meanings. Understanding the literary literacy as a process that not only begin or end in school but instead it has a fundamental importance for the school environment, this study was developed considering a sixthgrade class of a state public school located in Natal, RN. In order to contribute to the process of literary literacy of the students, a basic literacy sequence based on Cosson (2007) was built so as to adapt it to the poem genre and prioritize the oralization as an important auxiliary tool in the construction of meanings of the poetic text and also as a way to make the reading experience attractive and meaningful (PINHEIRO, 2015) through corporeity, as for what is configured as performance (ZUMTHOR, 2007). This process was employed by using the book Poemas que escolhi para as crianças, anthology created by Ruth Rocha (2013), which presents chapters grouped by themes, with a great diversity of authors from different eras. Besides the authors previously mentioned, the theoretical background was based primarily in Candido (1995, 1996, 2002), Zilberman (2008, 2012), Pinheiro (2002, 2006), Iser (1979), Todorov (2010), Paulino e Cosson (2009).
