However, little is known about the clinical outcomes associated with their occurrence, particularly those that are extremely common and may affect the management of gestational hypertension. Objective: To evaluate the impact of the interaction between methyldopa and ferrous sulfate on blood pressure levels and heart rate in hospitalized pregnant women. Methodology: A prospective observational cohort study involving 571 patients from September 2019 to June 2022. Patients were monitored daily for the occurrence of the target DI, with regular assessments of blood pressure and heart rate. Multivariate analysis was used to identify changes in hypertension potentially related to the interaction. Results: Patients exposed to the DI showed higher systolic blood pressure (128.0 vs 121.1 mmHg, p < 0.001) and diastolic blood pressure (77.1 vs 74.5 mmHg, p = 0.015) compared to those not exposed. There was no significant difference in heart rate (p = 0.108). Conclusion: The interaction between methyldopa and ferrous sulfate is common and may increase systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hospitalized pregnant women.pt-BRAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Interações medicamentosasGravidez de alto riscoMonitoramento de medicamentos.
