The control of these vectors involves the use of insecticides, but they are toxic to non-target organisms and prolonged use is associated with the emergence of mosquito populations resistant to these substances. In view of this problem, a more sustainable alternative is the use of essential oils. It is necessary to develop alternatives aimed at incorporating essential oils into pharmaceutical forms. Cinnamon essential oil (EO) has several activities, such as antibacterial and antifungal. In this work, cinnamon essential oil was obtained by hydrodistillation and nanoemulsions were produced from it using an experimental design tool. The nanoemulsions were prepared using 70% aqueous phase and 30% oil phase, 10% a mixture of essential oil and sunflower oil in different proportions, and 20% a mixture of the surfactants Tween 80 and Span 80. The aqueous phase was added to the oil phase by dripping in a continuous flow under magnetic stirring. The nanoemulsions were characterized using mean droplet size, PDI and zeta potential. It was possible to obtain nanoemulsions using all the combinations tested. The statistical model of the experimental design was obtained using Statistica software (version 10). The response surface graph showed that the best combination of factors was 50% OE in the ratio between the oils and an EHL of 6.5. The most stable nanoemulsions were also verified in the preliminary centrifugation test. Therefore, these results demonstrated the feasibility of obtaining nanoemulsions from phase inversion emulsification with cinnamon essential oil, as well as the evaluation of the optimized composition for the production of the most stable formulations.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Aedes aegyptiCanelaDesign experimentalNanoemulsõesÓleo essencialUso da ferramenta de design experimental na produção de nanoemulsões a partir do óleo essencial de canelaUse of the experimental design tool in the production of nanoemulsions from cinnamon essential oilbachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE
