However, some reservoirs have too viscous oil, classified as heavy or extra heavy oils. Because of that, their mobility and flow are compromised. As a solution to work around this situation, there are the thermal methods that lows the oil viscosity and increase the recovery factor because of that. Among thermal methods there is the steam flooding or steam drive, probably the most used method in the world by industry to recover reservoirs with these characteristics. From this necessity, this paper proposes a comparative study between two oil, which have different viscosities, one as heavy oil, and the other as extra heavy oil. This study made use of the computational tool Steam, Thermal and Advanced process Reservoir Simulation – STARS – version 2013.10 from Computer Modeling Group – CMG – through which it is possible to make an analysis of operational parameters influence, such as well layout, steam injection rate and steam temperature over the recovery factor and oil production. The results of the recovery factor showed that the use of this method for heavy oils is more satisfactory than for extra heavy oils, in different injection layouts and for increasing the steam injection up to a certain amount. However, the injection temperature does not influence in so significance way in final times of study.openAccessInjeção de vaporÓleo pesadoÓleo extrapesadoSimulação de reservatóriosTemperatura de injeçãoVazão de injeçãoEstudo comparativo da injeção contínua de vapor entre reservatórios de óleos pesados e extrapesadosbachelorThesisEngenharia de Petróleo
