This study aims to understand how fanfiction repositories employ elements derived from Knowledge Organization Systems, namely taxonomies, folksonomies and faceted classification. Specifically, it aims to characterize the information and knowledge organization, with its main theoretical-methodological contributions to the web such as concept theory and faceted classification theory, present the basic knowledge organization systems for this work, discuss fandom and fanfictions, recognize the types of organization systems used in each of the chosen platforms and point out advantages and disadvantages. The execution of the work started from a bibliographic survey, on the concepts information and knowledge organization on the web, knowledge organization systems, fandom and fanfiction in the literature in the areas of Information Science and Communication. This is exploratory research, with a qualitative approach, accompanied by content analysis. The websites chosen for the comparative analysis were Fanfiction.net, Archive of Our Own (AO3) and Wattpad, due to their popularity and relevance. The analysis criteria were established from the literature on knowledge organization. The results demonstrate that fanfiction repositories are significantly structured from elements derived from the organization of information and knowledge. Regarding the comparative study, it appears that the structures are different as they are supported by different organizational systems.
