With the growing focus on transparency and social responsibility, it is essential to understand how advances in legislation and procurement practices can contribute to more effective management. Among the main challenges currently faced in public procurement, the complexity of the rules and the lack of training of the professionals involved stand out, which can compromise the effectiveness of bidding processes. This study is justified by the importance of understanding how changes in legislation and practical innovations can positively impact public procurement, promoting efficiency, transparency and social responsibility. The objective is to identify the main challenges and opportunities, contributing to a broader debate on the future of acquisitions in the military organizations of the Army based in Natal-RN. This is a case study, descriptive of the main processes related to public procurement. The results indicated the existence of control tools and a work routine flowchart that facilitate the monitoring of the budgetary and financial execution on the MO in executing centralized purchases, and this model can be applied in other cities in Brazil with a concentration of military units.
