However, during times of fiscal austerity, an increase in social inequality affecting the population over 60 years old is observed, as in a capitalist society there is no room for workers who have lost the ability to sell their labor power, exacerbating problems such as violence. The interest in this object of study arose from concerns about the role of Social Work in addressing violence against the elderly. The general objective of this article is to analyze the relationship between the State and society in the face of violence against the elderly and the forms of violence suffered. In this direction, the specific objectives were: to discuss the aging process in the context of capitalist sociability, to analyze the violence inherent in social construction through mechanisms for the protection of the elderly, and to discuss how the Social Worker can act to minimize this problem through their role in CREAS. To achieve the objectives, both a bibliographic review and a documentary analysis of normative frameworks such as the Federal Constitution/1988 and the Elderly Statute were carried out.
