Despite this reality, there are still midwives working in Brazil,whether attending childbirth at home or working in maternity hospitals. In this sense, research is proposed with the aim of describing and facilitating the process of training midwives in the municipality of Caicó-RN. It is characterized as a qualitative approach study with the design of intervention research. For this, the following instruments are used:semi-structured interview, participant observation of the operative group that is based on participative methodologies of Popular Education in Health. After transcription of the interviews, the analysis of the collected data will be made based on the content analysis in the thematic analysis modality. The results of the categorization of interviews point to the following sense axes: profession and / or vocation, professional trajectory, constraints of practice, valorization and outstanding experiences.
