The study is specifically aimed at those that use reinforced concrete support structure, an increasingly common practice due to the search for open spaces below the floors for various uses. Two modeling methodologies were developed for a typical building, from the coupling of two computational models: the equivalent frame model to simulate the interaction between the structural walls and the reinforced concrete support structure; and the three-dimensional frame model to simulate the structural walls on the upper floors. Based on this modeling, the work developed focused on the evaluation of the effects caused by considering different criteria for simulating the effect of rigid diaphragm of the floor slabs: one criterion considers the link associated with the relative vertical displacements in the floor, while the other criterion releases this link. The analyzes also consisted of evaluating the bending moments, axial and shear forces, and displacements of the beams of the support structure, in addition to the distribution of stresses at the base of the walls, for panels with different types and arrangement of openings.
