In this article, we aim to present an account of this thematic agenda, focusing on Gregório de Matos’ Baroque Satire, which inspires anthropophagic laughter. To this end, our work maps a Baroque timeline, from its inception to the present, aiming to better situate the poet in the world of the modern-baroque, and culminates in an analysis of poems that exemplify Gregório de Matos’ unruly baroque.
