These buildings serve as physical testimonies of past eras and carry with them the identity and memory of a community. In the context of Rio Grande do Norte, the Alberto Maranhão Theater holds special significance due to its historical trajectory, architectural value, and cultural meaning, making it an invaluable heritage asset. The objective of this work is to analyze whether the proposal presented in the most recent Conservation and Restoration Project of the theater, which underwent construction between 2018 and 2021, follows restoration criteria and values the built heritage. To achieve this, a bibliographic investigation was conducted on the recommended procedures in Heritage Charters, the opinion of restoration theorists, and current legislation. Additionally, a survey of the theater's damage map was conducted, identifying the main issues and deteriorations that affected its integrity at the beginning of the construction works and subsequent intervention plans.
