Due to its execution through a magnetic field, there are several risks involved in its performance, requiring proper preparation of the team to promote patient safety. Objective: report the experience of a Nursing student in assisting patients in Magnetic Resonance Imaging exams, during the mandatory supervised internship at an Imaging Diagnostic Center. Method: this is a descriptive study, of the experience report type, which emerged from the mandatory supervised internship, which makes up the last period of the undergraduate nursing course at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, between September and November 2024, in a teaching hospital. Results and discussions: the practices carried out during the supervised internship in the sector were compatible with the scientific theory, which supports the need for measures to promote patient safety in the environment and during the performance of MRI exams performed by nurses and the nursing team.
