In this sense, theoretical studies of linguistic functionalism were used since one of its main postulates is to conceive language as an instrument of social interaction. For this, 20 interviews from the journalistic sphere were selected which were collected from a Spanish journal published online and free of charge specifically the journal El País. For the quantitative analysis, the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) statistical program was used to run the data and obtain the occurrences of the analysis categories of the following semantic parameters: modal orientation, modal value, verb tense and modal domain, and the interrelationship between them. After analyzing the data, it was found that in relation to the type of modal orientation the deontic modality oriented to the Event was the most recurrent with the modal value of obligation being established mostly.
